Taste Beer Brewed With Florida-Grown Hops

One of the highlights of the Florida Ag Expo is the opportunity to see research being conducted at the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (GCREC) in Wimauma, Florida. A field tour will give attendees a chance to check out plots and walk the rows of crops being studied at the center. The tour includes multiple stops that include pest, disease, nematode and weed management research as well as other projects.

Those taking the tour will be offered a unique treat at its conclusion. Hiatus Brewing, a craft beer company based in Ocala, Florida, will be serving samples of beer brewed with Florida-grown hops.

The tour will conclude at the GCREC hopyard, where attendees can learn more about the potential for hops production in Florida. Along with beer samples to enjoy, several learning stations featuring pest identification and other research will be presented, so attendees can mingle and learn more about GCREC’s work.
